Dr. Anna Petovello is an AASECT-certified Sex Therapist, Clinical Sexologist, and Licensed Master Social Worker offering virtual therapy. In her practice, she provides a sex-positive, affirming space where clients can explore their past, understand who they are today, and consider who they want to become while also holding space for the more complex truths life brings.
My Story
Dr. Petovello works from an existential and psychodynamic foundation, supporting clients in making sense of their inner world by bringing unconscious patterns into conscious awareness. Her work may focus on identity, attachment wounds, relational dynamics, or sexual health concerns—but always with an emphasis on meaning-making, integration, and cultivating self-trust. She also incorporates somatic practices to help clients safely reconnect with their bodies, particularly when healing from trauma or navigating experiences that have impacted their physical or emotional sense of safety.
Clients who work with Dr. Petovello gain insight into their inner world and the external systems they engage with—be it chosen family, cultural expectations, or relational structures. She specializes in diverse sexualities and relational structures, and in helping people reconnect with pleasure, play, and purpose across all domains: emotional, physical, spiritual, and relational.
Dr. Petovello holds a Master’s in Social Work and a Doctorate in Clinical Sexology. She is licensed in both Michigan and Texas (LMSW and LCSW, respectively) and holds a Level 1 Certification in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, which informs her work with partners navigating communication, conflict, and connection. Her ongoing education reflects a deep commitment to providing ethical, inclusive, and affirming care across the spectrum of sexuality, relationships, and identity.
